Lakers News: Anthony Davis Misses Team USA Practices Due to Illness

Lakers’ Anthony Davis has missed several Team USA practices due to an illness William Frost

According to Michael Pina of The Ringer, Los Angeles Lakers All-Star Anthony Davis, a key player for Team USA, has missed several practices due to illness, raising questions about his readiness for the competition.

Despite his health issues, Davis has been a standout performer in the games played so far. He has helped Team USA secure victories in all five exhibition matches and their opening pool play game. In a recent match against Team Serbia, he finished with a notable plus-28 plus-minus score, showcasing his impact on the court.

Davis’s absence from practices hasn’t hindered his performance. He has outshined Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, who has struggled to find his rhythm. Alongside Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo, Davis has become one of the team’s top frontcourt defenders.

In his limited playing time, Davis has made significant contributions, scoring seven points, grabbing eight rebounds, and providing one assist in just 19 minutes. His performance has earned him a crucial role in the team’s closing lineup, despite Embiid starting the games.

With Davis and Adebayo stepping up, Team USA looks strong, but there are concerns about Embiid’s health as well. He is also dealing with an illness, which may lead to him sitting out the next game against South Sudan.
