Lonzo Ball reveals main reason Kobe Bryant will not make Mount Rushmore of basketball

Bulls star Lonzo Ball made a recent apperance on WNBA star Angel Reese’s podcast, speaking about the late Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant and Lonzo Ball

WNBA superstar Angel Reese has been enjoying her off-season after a vigorous 2023-24 WNBA season with her side, the Chicago Sky. Reese, in the meantime, has started her own podcast, Unapologetically Angel. She has invited various NBA and WNBA players over the past few weeks on her show, discussing various topics about the sport.

Notably, Angel Reese recently featured NBA and the Chicago Bulls star man, Lonzo Ball and his brother LiAngelo on her show. They discussed everything from basketball to life and everything in between. In one instance, Lonzo shocked the NBA community. This was by asserting that the late legendary Kobe Bryant isn’t among the top five players for a specific reason.

I love Kobe Bryant, but he was never the best player to me when I was watching him. Just because he’s got the most misses ever, you know what I’m saying? I don’t know. But back to Curry—his resume, the way he changed the game—he’s the best shooter ever.

Lonzo Ball said on the ‘Unapologetically Angel’ show

Ball, a former Laker, brings a special viewpoint to the discussion. He shared the court with LeBron James, one of the greatest players to ever wear a Lakers uniform. Lonzo spent two years with the team after being selected second overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, averaging 10.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game on 38.0% shooting.

However, Lonzo Ball isn’t a big supporter of Kobe Bryant despite his past. Despite Bryant’s five championships and eighteen All-Star selections, Ball blames him for his inefficiency. The Ball brother felt that Bryant was not as good as basketball greats like Michael Jordan and James.

LaVar Ball made a ‘shocking’ revelation regarding Kobe Bryant and Lonzo Ball

Just like Lonzo Ball does not rate the late Kobe Bryant, the latter did not rate the current Chicago Bulls star either. Bryant preferred the Boston Celtics star man Jayson Tatum over Ball. The preference was such that he wanted the Lakers to draft Tatum instead of Ball. Interestingly, Lonzo’s father LaVar Ball made an intriguing revelation regarding Bryant and Lonzo Ball on a podcast.

How many times does a player get to play with his favorite player? Probably never. Yes. That’s why Kobe don’t like him that much. Because he said, ‘I like LeBron.’ LeBron’s always been his guy, though.

LaVar Ball said on the Stadium’s Sauce and Shram podcast

As per LaVar Ball, this was one of the main reasons Bryant did not ‘like’ Lonzo Ball. In addition, Ball has been a clear admirer of LeBron James and has publicity claimed this as well. He has immense respect for the NBA superstar. Aside from this, Ball has returned to the court in the 2024-25 NBA season after missing most of the last campaign due to injuries.
