Kevin Durant isn’t miserable. Or maybe he is. He’s asking critics to tell him.
Durant sent out a shade-filled post on X Thursday in response to a Team USA photo featuring him and Stephen Curry.
For years, fans have come at Durant on social media, calling him miserable, among other things. The back-and-forth began largely after Durant’s decision to join the Golden State Warriors in 2016 and reached a fever pitch when he accidentally exposed himself using a burner account in 2017.
“I enjoy engaging with the fans. I used to take it personal. It was a point I used to think that people were trying to personally attack me through my social media. … I realized these people don’t know me at all, and a lot of people are excited to have that interaction and just want to get some attention,” Durant told Charles Barkley in 2021.

Durant’s healthier relationship with social media has allowed him to clap back at fans on a regular basis, seemingly without letting it all bother him too much.
Of course, Durant’s critics would say his continued engagement on social media and defensiveness shed light on an underlying frustration with his reputation.
Only Durant will likely ever know the truth.
