Anthony Davis on what JJ Redick wants him to do more of this season

Anthony Davis may be heading into his 13th NBA season, but he’s in his absolute prime at age 31, and he put together arguably the best season of his career, at least so far, during the 2023-24 campaign.

This summer, he teamed up with fellow Los Angeles Lakers teammate LeBron James on Team USA at the Olympics. He played a key role mostly off the bench in helping the United States win yet another Olympic gold medal in men’s basketball.

At Lakers media day on Monday. he said that new head coach JJ Redick would text him during the Olympics to tell him he did a good job with his 3-point shot.

Davis has never been a good or great 3-point shooter in the NBA, with the exception of the second half of the 2019-20 season. But Redick, who was a fantastic 3-point shooter during his playing days, still wants him to launch more treys.

If Davis not only launches more 3-pointers but also shoots a respectable percentage from that distance, it would open up things for his teammates, as it would allow L.A. to space the floor better and have a less congested lane on offense.
