Anthony Davis Shares Honest Thoughts About Bronny’s Game

After a historic night for the Lakers and LeBron and Bronny James, big man Anthony Davis shared his thoughts about what he’s seen from Bronny so far.

Of course, there are unrealistic expectations being placed on the overall number 55th pick, as he is the GOAT’s son.

In his second pre-season game for the Lakers, Bronny logged zero points, two rebounds and four turnovers in 14 minutes in LA’s loss to Phoenix.

But Davis has been quite impressed with the 20-year-old thus far.

“He’s tough,” Davis told reporters. “Obviously, he’s defensive-minded. Some great blocks, Game 1. The physicality. He gets over on screens, good with his hands as far as deflection and steals. But he’s also still learning. He’s still trying to figure everything out, so we have to realize that. He’s still a rookie and this is a different style of basketball in the league. But I like what I’m seeing from him, on both ends of the floor, especially defensively.”

Lakers head coach JJ Redick spoke about the decision to play both LeBron and Bronny at the same time.

“Just wanted to get them a chance to play together in preseason … within the flow of the game,” Redick said. “I’m thrilled that I get to be a part of this. I really am. It’s cool as a basketball fan.

He added, “I thought the stretch was okay… That was during a stretch where I think we had some issues with our transition defense,” Redick explained. “Just getting matched. I liked what I saw throughout the first half with all the groups we tried. In terms of the ‘Why’, just wanted to give them a chance to play together in preseason. Within the flow of the game, and how we had done the substitution patterns in game one, that was the right time to do it.”
