Ever since becoming the starter for the Kansas City Chiefs back in 2018, football fans have seen Patrick Mahomes throw every possible pass on the book. Even a no-look behind-the-back one.

The Chiefs entered into the second week of their pre-season training camp with almost an entire full-strength receiving and rushing core. With speedsters like Xavier WorthyMarquise Brown, and Rashee Rice, the Chiefs’ focus, as per head coach Andy Reid, has been for Mahomes to go long on every opportunity.

However, on Wednesday, fans saw something very unique from the three-time Super Bowl MVP. Instead of applying his usual route and finding one of his receivers, Mahomes saw running back Isiah Pacheco wide open right in front of the red zone.

After taking the snap, Mahomes took a step back, assessing his options. He then faked the pass to the side and, just like prime LeBron James, threw one from behind his back to Pacheco.

The two-time Super Bowl winner then did the rest by scoring a walk-on touchdown. Several videos of the backhanded pass to Pacheco went viral instantly, garnering multiple reactions on the Internet.

Pacheco was often Mahomes’ go-to option in 2023 because his receivers kept dropping the ball. So, instead of going deep, the 28-year-old preferred running the ball more.
