Lakers News: Los Angeles Rumored as Preferred Destination for Trae Young

With Trae Young reportedly considering the Lakers as a preferred destination, could he join forces with LeBron James and Anthony Davis?

The Lakers are actively seeking to bolster their roster this offseason after an early playoff exit highlighted the need for more talent. One name that has consistently surfaced in trade discussions is Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young.

Young has been on Atlanta’s trade radar for a few seasons, but the team has yet to make a move. With the recent departure of guard Dejounte Murray, the Hawks might hold onto Young for now. However, if Atlanta decides to trade him, Young reportedly has a list of preferred destinations, and the Lakers are among them.

“The Hawks, of course, are expected to engage rival teams on trade scenarios for both Trae Young and Dejounte Murray throughout this offseason,” said NBA insider Jake Fischer. “The Lakers, Pelicans and Spurs remain three destinations that would be appealing to Young, league sources told Yahoo Sports.”

Adding Young to the Lakers would provide a significant boost, pairing him with LeBron James and Anthony Davis to form a formidable trio. This move could also set up the Lakers well for the future, especially as they prepare for the post-James era.

While a trade remains uncertain, especially with Murray’s recent move, the Lakers know that Young is open to joining them. This knowledge could influence their strategy as they continue to navigate the offseason.
