Lakers’ Austin Reaves mocks Pistons fan: “I’m not going to Detroit”

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves has no intentions of joining the worst team in the NBA.

The Detroit Pistons finished with the league’s worst record last season (14-68) and are in desperate need of established talent. This led a Pistons fan to plead with Reaves to come to Detroit, to which he responded, “I’m not going to Detroit.”

Luck has not been on the Pistons’ side in recent years, as they’ve landed the No. 5 pick for the second consecutive year. Still, their roster is filled with talented players, including Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson, and Jalen Duren. The front office is scrambling for ways to unlock their potential, firing coach Monty Williams on Wednesday after one year. The Pistons must now prioritize a strong veteran presence to guide the core of their roster.

While Reaves, 26, is by no means an experienced star, playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis for multiple seasons has undoubtedly increased his basketball IQ. He is under contract until the end of the 2027 season, meaning he’s likely staying put in LA for the foreseeable future.
