The 1990s were a great decade for the NBA. While there was a lot of star power in that era, the decade was mainly dominated by the Chicago Bulls. Led by the big three of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman, the team took home six championships in the 90s.
Decades removed from the team’s wild success, they’re still beloved. Fans are still emotionally invested in the squad as well, as 2020’s Last Dance documentary is one of the most beloved sports series ever. However, instead of looking back at the 90s team, we’re going to look forward to where several of the stars are today.
The Chicago Bulls were arguably the best team in the NBA in the 1990s, and one of the best in NBA history. The legendary Michael Jordan led the team to six championship victories in that decade, although he could not have done it without the help of great players like Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant, Steve Kerr, among others.
It’s been 30 years or so since that dynasty, and former Chicago Bulls players have gone their separate ways since then. Some have nothing to do with the team or basketball, but others remain in the NBA world, and even continue to be part of the Chicago Bulls, working from the front office.
10. Steve Kerr Is The Head Coach Of The Golden State Warriors
Steve Kerr Won Three Rings With The Chicago Bulls
Steve Kerr might be the only player from the 90s Chicago Bulls dynasty to be more successful after his time with the team. The point guard spent 1993 to 1998 with the team, playing a pivotal role in the team, and coming up large in many moments despite his bench status.
Since retiring, Kerr has gotten into coaching. As the current head coach of the Golden State Warriors, he’s now been a part of two dynasties, having helped the franchise win four championships.
9. Bill Wennington Is The Bulls’ Radio Analyst

Speaking of bench players, Bill Wennington took home three championships with the Chicago Bulls, having played for the franchise from 1993 to 1999. The center was the backup to Luc Longley and wasn’t a huge name for the team. Although he wasn’t a superstar for the team, Wennington has worked with the team since retirement. He’s currently the color commentator for Bulls radio broadcasts.
8. Luc Longley Is A Part-Owner Of The Sydney Kings
Luc Longley Won Three Championship Rings With The Chicago Bulls
Luc Longley was an oft-forgotten piece of the late 90s Chicago Bulls. While he didn’t receive as much attention as Michael Jordan or Dennis Rodman, the center still had a great run with the team from 1994 to 1998.
After retiring, Longley decided to get into the coaching world. From 2013 to 2019, the big man was an assistant coach for the Australia men’s national basketball team for the FIBA World Cup, as well as the Olympic Games. Now, he is a part-owner of the Sydney Kings.
7. Scottie Pippen Is An NBA Analyst
Scottie Pippen Won Six Rings WIth The Bulls
Scottie Pippen was seen as the second in command to Michael Jordan during his time with the Chicago Bulls. The small forward was with the team from 1987 to 1998, as well as from 2003 to 2004. Pippen was there for all six championships and played a massive role in each series along the way.
After retiring, the former All-Star became a team ambassador for the Bulls. In 2020, Pippen parted ways with the organization and became a basketball analyst for ESPN and ABC.
6. Toni Kukoc Is A Bulls Advisor
Toni Kukoc Won Three Championships With The Bulls
Toni Kukoc’s contributions to the Chicago Bulls might be a bit forgotten these days, but the franchise doesn’t win three championships without him. In 1993, the team acquired the small forward, and he became one of their top-scoring options until leaving in 2000. Like other players from the Bulls dynasty, Kukoc has stayed with the team in a non-playing capacity. The former NBA champion works as a special advisor for the franchise.
5. Scott Burrell Is The Head Coach Of Southern Connecticut State University
Scott Burrell Won One Championship Ring With The Bulls
Scott Burrell isn’t a player widely discussed today, but he had a successful career in the NBA from 1993 to 2001. Playing mainly as a bench player, the shooting guard was a valued tool in practice, as he mainly went one-on-one with Michael Jordan during his time in Chicago from 1997 to 1998.
After retiring, Burrell got himself into coaching. The former backup player is currently the head coach of the Southern Connecticut Fighting Owls of the NCAA.
4. John Paxson Is An Advisor & Executive

John Paxson was one of the most important players of the early parts of the Chicago Bulls dynasty. He played for the team from 1985 to 1994, helping the squad win three championships as their starting point guard.
After retiring, Paxson returned to the team from 1995 to 1996 as an assistant coach. However, he soon realized that he could be much better in the front office. From 2003 to 2009, Paxson worked as general manager for the Bulls. Right now, Paxson is the senior advisor of basketball operations for the Bulls.
3. Dennis Rodman Has Had A Busy Life After Retirement
Dennis Rodman Won Three Rings With The Chicago Bulls
Dennis Rodman was the bad boy of the Chicago Bulls, and one of the most important tools of the second half of their dynasty. From 1995 to 1998, he did his best work as the starting power forward, helping the team win three straight rings.
It’s hard to imagine some of the best NBA players of all time falling so low in the draft, becoming some of the biggest steals ever!
After retiring in 2006, Rodman has done a little bit of everything. He starred in several movies and television shows, returned to pro wrestling for Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling, and even served in a sort of unofficial ambassador role to North Korea.
2. Horace Grant Is A Special Advisor
Horace Grant Won Three Rings With The Bulls
If there’s one thing that the Chicago Bulls do well, it’s taking care of their former players. Horace Grant was another important tool in their early dynasty, having played for the team from 1987 to 1994. He ultimately retired in 2004 after a failed stint with the Los Angeles Lakers.
In 2009, Horace became a goodwill ambassador for the NBA. In 2016, he returned to the Bulls in a front-office capacity, as he became a special advisor to the president of the team.
1. Michael Jordan Is A Business-Man
Michael Jordan Led The Bulls To Six Championship Wins
Michael Jordan is seen as the face of the Chicago Bulls dynasty and for good reason. Arguably the greatest player of all time, the shooting guard led the team to six championships before retiring for the second time in 1998.
Today, Jordan is one of the most important people in the NBA, but not as a player or coach. In 2006, he became a minority owner of the Charlotte Hornets. He eventually became the majority owner of the team, but sold his majority stake in 2023. It is also worth mentioning that Jordan has made a huge amount of money from his partnership with Nike.
