Kevin Durant chimes into ‘what’s wrong with NBA’ debate as viewership falls

Kevin Durant took to his X account to reveal why he feels the NBA’s ratings declining amidst major viewership crisis for the NBA.

Kevin Durant chimes in on reason for declining viewership in the NBA

Kevin Durant tells it like it is. Straight up, with no sugarcoating whatsoever. As the NBA continues to struggle with declining viewership issues, KD took some time to hop on to his favourite platform, X, to talk hoops with some fans, like he usually does. On today’s agenda, Durant revealed his thoughts on the declining viewership issue.

The NBA’s declining viewership numbers have sparked widespread discussion, with reports revealing a significant 48% drop since 2012. All any and every NBA forum seems to be talking about is the league’s declining viewership, which certainly can’t bode well for Adam Silver. However, Kevin Durant found the only rational take that might be floating around the internet and took some time out to amplify it.

Don’t get me wrong– there’s *SO* much the NBA could do better. But at the same time– all the “What’s wrong with the NBA” talk is also insufferable. The entire discourse is just nostalgic, opinion-based complaints & whining, with zero regard for facts/data/research whatsoever.

As the new day dawned, KD woke up bright and early to post at 8 am in Phoenix to let his followers and fans know that he agreed with this take on the NBA’s viewership situation.

Good morning! I agree…Enjoy todays slate of games.

Kevin Durant wrote on X, quoting Betsycashmoney’s post

This response reflects Kevin Durant’s ongoing frustration with NBA fans and commentators. In recent years, he has repeatedly criticized the fanbase for its cynicism, especially the media members covering the game (*cough cough* Stephen A Smith).

As Durant infamously said in a 2021 tweet, “NBA fans don’t like anything about the NBA, and it’s weird.” Amen, KD. While it may not be the most pleasant argument to hear from one’s favorite player, it’d be difficult to argue against KD’s logic.

Kevin Durant’s Bay Area reunion on the cards with hypothetical trade in the offing

While the league’s viewership may be down, it has not done anything to stop every NBA fan’s favourite pastime, the constantly churning rumour mill for potential hypothetical trades. trade rumors surrounding Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors have reignited after the possibility of a potential trade between the two parties came to light.

According to reports, the Warriors are exploring aggressive trade scenarios to maximize their championship window during Stephen Curry’s prime, starting with their recent acquisition of Brooklyn Nets guard Dennis Schroder. However, Schroder’s trade could be just the first domino to fall, as the Warriors have explicitly expressed their interest in landing a ‘big star’ alongside Curry. That star could be Kevin Durant.

The proposed trade would send Durant from the Phoenix Suns back to Golden State in exchange for Andrew WigginsJonathan KumingaMoses MoodyGary Payton II, and future assets. If executed, this blockbuster deal would reunite Durant with Curry, reigniting memories of their dominant championship runs in 2017 and 2018.

Even though both stars are well into the twilight of their careers, we have seen their dominance firsthand, making easy to answer if the duo would still be successful. The answer is yes, of course. It’s Steph and KD.

While the trade is purely speculative at this point, the prospect of Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry joining forces once again is tantalizing. What better way to bring back viewership to the league than to bring back the most feared duo in the modern NBA? Everyone loves a good villain, right?
