Tom Brady’s Strong Message To Patrick Mahomes After Making NFL History

During Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs moved to 7-0 after defeating their AFC West rival, the Las Vegas Raiders, 27-20 at Allegiant Stadium.

In that game, Mahomes broke yet another NFL record, one that left the GOAT himself, former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, impressed.

Mahomes, the former Texas Tech standout, recorded 262 passing yards to go with two touchdowns and an interception. With these numbers, he became the fastest player in NFL history to reach the 30,000-yard passing mark, doing so in just 103 career games.

The previous record holder was Matthew Stafford, who reached the mark in his 109th game while playing for the Detroit Lions. The next fastest players were Kurt Warner (Rams/Giants/Cardinals) and former Miami Dolphins star Dan Marino, both of whom hit 30,000 in their 114th game.

When revealing his top five teams through eight weeks of the NFL season, Brady, who won seven Super Bowls with the Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, had a message for Mahomes after his latest achievement.

“Patrick, the fastest player to reach 30,000 career passing yards,” Brady said. “What an accomplishment. Congratulations, Pat.”

This season, Mahomes hasn’t quite lived up to what many people expect from a three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback, at least on the stat sheet. He has completed a career-high 68.4% of his passes for 1,651 yards, eight touchdowns and a league-leading nine interceptions.

But the 29-year-old continues to find ways to win, even with the amount of injuries the Chiefs are dealing with at the wide receiver position. Rashee Rice, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Skyy Moore have all been placed on injured reserve, while Juju Smith-Schuster is dealing with a lingering hamstring issue.

Even with these issues, Kansas City remains the team to beat in the NFL. This hasn’t stopped the team from improving its three-peat chances as they have acquired new weapons in wideout DeAndre Hopkins and defensive end Josh Uche before next week’s trade deadline.
