LeBron James admits he would’ve crumbled in Bronny James’ shoes

LeBron James spoke about the pressures faced by his son Bronny James, following his first career points in the NBA against Cavaliers.

Bronny James and LeBron-James

LeBron James and his son Bronny James had a moment for the ages in Cleveland. The father-son duo recently created history in the NBA by playing together. But the cherry on top came last night in the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

While the Lakers may have lost, the ending of the game saw Bronny James score his first NBA regular season points. After the game, LeBron James spoke about his son’s accomplishment and the pressure he faces.

The 39-year-old James had to admit that he may not have been able to keep up with the pressure that Bronny James has to undergo. James Jr. was the 55th pick in this year’s NBA draft, at just 20 years of age.

However, due to his family name, Bronny has been under severe scrutiny for a second-round pick. With Bronny facing criticism and trolling on a daily basis, here’s what LeBron James had to say about the pressure his son has to carry.

He’s better than I would’ve been in that situation. 20,000 fans screaming my name to get in the game and they wanted me to be in the game. If the roles were reversed, I don’t know if I would be able to handle it.

LeBron James said during the postgame presser

The Lakers lost the game 110-134 to the Cavaliers. However, the game saw Bronny James hit his first NBA shot with just under two minutes left in the game. As the rookie sunk the wing jumper, the crowd erupted with joy for the hometown kid. The pressure on James Jr. must have been tremendous, but Bronny has been facing it throughout his life.

LeBron James proclaimed that even he may not have been able to handle the burden of expectations that surrounds Bronny James. However, that may not be entirely true given the mountain of expectations that an 18-year-old LeBron James was faced by when he made his debut in 2003.

The ‘Chosen One’ was expected to be the greatest player of all time before he’d even stepped foot on an NBA floor. Safe to say, LeBron James was able to handle the burden of expectations. Only question that remains is – Can Bronny James do the same?

Cleveland Cavaliers welcome hometown heroes LeBron James and Bronny James

The city of Cleveland was all set to host the return of King James to their city. LeBron James has been the pillar of Cleveland sports for over a decade, bringing the city its first major championship since 1964.

On his return to the city with his son Bronny, the Cavaliers set up a special tribute in the locker room at the Mortgage Center for LeBron James.

To be more specific, the Cavaliers organization set up special tributes for former Cleveland athletes on the Lakers team. Bronny James was born in Akron in 2004 while his dad LeBron James was the franchise superstar for the Cavaliers.

Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell is also a legend in Ohio sports. He led the Buckeyes to a round of 32 finish in the 2014-15 NCAA Tournament. The team also honored former Cavaliers players, and Lakers assistant coach Scott Brooks.
