LeBron James, Anthony Davis Dazzle NBA Fans as JJ Redick’s Lakers Win vs. Raptors

First-year head coach JJ Redick has led the Los Angeles Lakers back above .500.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis each recorded double-doubles while combining for 58 points in Friday night’s 131-125 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

The Lakers ended a two-game slump and improved to 4-2 on the season with the win.

James led the Lakers with 14 points, while Davis contributed nine, in the first 12 minutes to help their team climb out to a 43-19 first-quarter lead.

The Raptors began to chip away at the early lead in the second half, pulling within 11 points of tying the score by the end of the third quarter.

The Raptors came within six points in the fourth quarter, but clutch free throws from Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves ensured the Lakers could close out the win.

The victory marked the Lakers’ fourth since Redick took over the role of head coach ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Davis finished the night with 12 rebounds and a game-high 38 points on 14-of-20 shooting from the field while going 10-of-11 from the foul line.

James went 5-of-8 from behind the arc while contributing 27 points and 10 assists in the victory.

Both RJ Barrett and Gradey Dick topped 30 points for the Raptors, but were unable to overcome James and Davis as Toronto fell to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 at home.

Davis, James and the Lakers are back in action on Monday night with another road game, this time against the 1-5 Detroit Pistons. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
