Some fans will never get used to watching Klay Thompson playing for the Dallas Mavericks.
He spent his entire career as No. 11 for the Golden State Warriors, earning the right to have that jersey hanging high in the rafters.
Still, this a business, and everybody has to move on, including Thompson.
That’s why Kevin Durant, who knows a thing or two about starting fresh somewhere else, is just happy to see his former teammate balling out.
Following the Phoenix Suns’ win over the Mavs, Durant acknowledged that it was a little odd to watch Thompson with the No. 31 jersey.
As for playing for the Mavs, he claimed that he’s playing the same style of basketball he’s always played (via Shane Young):
“It’s good to see Klay out there playing well, playing with confidence. It still feels like he’s playing the same brand of basketball,” he said.
That’s right on point.
Thompson is turning back the clock and looking like his best version again.
He’s knocked down eleven three-pointers in two games with his new team, shooting them at a 50% clip.
The former Splash Brother is going to thrive with all the wide-open looks he’ll get by playing next to Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Kevin Durant tells me it’s not weird seeing Klay Thompson play in a Mavericks uniform, but it’s weird to see him in No. 31

He’s not likely to be the same disruptive perimeter defender of old, but he’s going to give Jason Kidd’s team a whole new dynamic on offense with his timely and efficient shooting.
Thompson didn’t have a good time in his final year in the Bay area.
He’s now playing freely and devoid of all that pressure and negativity, and that should be a scary thought for the rest of the Association.
