Austin Reaves on Anthony Davis: ‘He’s the best player on our team’

Austin Reaves praised Anthony Davis, claiming he’s the best player on the Lakers team with LeBron James on the roster, and said that he expects the offense to go through the big man and him to be dominant.

The Los Angeles Lakers started the season 2-0 for the first time in 14 years. After the game against the Phoenix Suns, Lakers guard Austin Reaves praised one of his teammates.

Anthony Davis scored a game-leading 35 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 4 assists, and recorded 2 blocks to lead the Lakers, while LeBron James had a quieter night of 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Despite the common belief, Reaves said that Davis and not LeBron is the driving force of the squad.

“I feel like he’s the best player on our team, and we play through him,” he said via Jovan Buha from The Athletic.

“I expect him to go out every night and be dominant,” Reaves later added.

Through two games, Davis leads the NBA in scoring and is tied-7th in rebounds. He is also the first Lakers player with 30+ points in the first two games of the season since Kobe Bryant and the third Laker in history with 35+, joining Jerry West and Elgin Baylor.
