Scott Van Pelt trolls Steph Curry over Panthers fandom on MNF

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and thus, is a massive Carolina Panthers (1-6) fan.

His Panthers fandom, unfortunately, has seen better days. Scott Van Pelt happened to be the person to remind him on national television. Curry, making an appearance on ESPN during halftime of the Week 7 Monday Night Football matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2) and Baltimore Ravens (4-2), signed off on his interview with a “Go Panthers.” Van Pelt hit him with a “good luck with that.”

Of course it’s all in good fun, as Curry couldn’t help but laugh profusely at Van Pelt’s dig. That is, in fact, the reality for Panthers fans in current times, as the organization continues to flounder through its rebuild.



The latest low was a day ago, when the Panthers were soundly defeated to the tune of 40-7 by the Washington Commanders (5-2) in Week 7. Carolina mustered up just 180 yards of total offense and surrendered 421, even as Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels exited the game after the first drive with a rib injury.

First-year head coach Dave Canales has since gotten a chance to review the film. He described it as “humbling.”

“Just a humbling film to watch,” Canales said Monday. “Looking at all phases in the corrections, the fundamental things that we need to improve upon, and just went right to the truth of it, you know, just looking at the film, and everybody taking accountability for the different things that we can improve upon in the different areas.



“Certainly, in all phases, it’s tough to look at the truth of what it is, but that’s all we can do is look at those things, start with the basics and the fundamentals of it, and just take it head on and attack it again this week in practice.”
