Bill Belichick Will Replace Jerry Jones as the Dallas Cowboys General Manager

The Dallas Cowboys currently sit at 3-3, and are third in the NFC East. It’s clear that Dallas is underperforming, and they have one person to blame for it, Jerry Jones.

Now many can look at Mike McCarthy, and while he isn’t a great head coach, Jones also isn’t as great as a general manager as he once was in the past. Jones may have the history of bringing three Super Bowls to Dallas, as well as a 315-254 regular season record under him after he bought the Cowboys and became the general manager, but that aspect of being stuck in the past is what continues to hold Dallas back.

Jones has fully failed to adapt to the new age of the NFL, which has led to his philosophy on managing a team falling behind. That was showcased on Jones’ birthday when Dallas lost in embarrassing fashion to the Detroit Lions, 47-9. The current construction of the team is not on par with the best teams in the NFL, from the coaching down to the players. Jones needs to realize that the general manager duties are too much for him to handle now, and delegate those responsibilities.

For that, the ideal next general manager for the Dallas Cowboys is Bill Belichick.

While things didn’t necessarily end on a winning note for Bill Belichick on the New England Patriots, that doesn’t take away from his legacy. Belichick finished with a 333-178 record as a head coach, and won six Super Bowls. He helped create the Patriots dynasty, as he was not just their head coach, but de facto general manager. As time went on though, what led to the Patriots declining under Belichick was the fact that he as well had too many roles. Trying to be the head coach and general manager at the same time ended up costing him, as he couldn’t focus on one aspect fully to improve the team.

Here, Belichick wouldn’t have to worry about the coaching aspect, and would be able to fully focus on the roster construction and being the general manager of the Cowboys. One thing is for certain, Belichick is a great football mind, and has shown he can build the culture of a team. Belichick would bring a more modern way of running the Cowboys, and bring balance to the way the Cowboys are ran from the top down.
