Stephen Curry demands a change of direction for the Golden State Warriors: “We must have an open mind about how we should play”

The stars of the Californian team spoke on media day about the changes in the squad and the hopes for an uncertain season

The 2024/25 season of Golden State Warriors arrives with a new energy following significant changes in the roster (especially due to absences). The absences, especially of Klay Thompson and Chris Paul, leave a strange scenario due to the lack of reinforcements.

Draymond Green spoke about the team’s new chapter: “It’s going to look a little different now. Where there’s more uncertainty, that tends to be the greatest opportunity for growth.”

With a new roster including Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson, and De’Anthony Melton, the team will once again try to have their younger core, composed of Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski, and Trayce Jackson-Davis, finally make the long-awaited leap forward.

Stephen Curry, in this regard, stated: “I come into this training camp with an open mind about how we should play. It doesn’t mean this team has to play the same way.”

He also reflected on the need to adapt after the disappointment of not making the playoffs last year: “You get punched in the face and not making the playoffs, that’s the real message you need.”

The key to winning another ring

Green emphasized the importance of the new additions, pointing out that “a move in this league can set how the next 10 years of your organization will go.” He made it clear that championships are won from positions 6 to 10, not just from 1 to 5. With a significant number of players who can fit into the rotation, the challenge will be to maximize the potential of each one and their teammates to achieve collective success.
