JJ Redick Questions What A Traditional Center Really Is While Highlighting Anthony Davis’s One-of-a-Kind Skills
When asked about needing a traditional center behind Davis, Redick questioned what a “traditional center” really means. He pointed out Davis’s unique skills: “When you say traditional center what does that mean?” Redick said in a press conference on Wednesday. “Is Brook Lopez a traditional center though? … We have not only one of the best players in the world but one of the most unique players in the world in Anthony Davis. There are very few people who can do what he does at his size, especially in terms of his ball-handling and defensive skills.”
During the 2023-24 season, Anthony Davis had an impressive year, averaging 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game, with a field goal percentage of 55.6%. He played a career-high 76 games and made his ninth All-Star selection. Davis proved his defensive strength and scoring ability, earning first-team All-Defensive honors and second-team All-NBA recognition.
While the Lakers have experienced players, their success will depend greatly on Davis’s health and performance. He remains a key player alongside LeBron James.
