WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque handed Kevin Durant a special Texas Longhorns championship belt at FanaticsFest 2024.
Kevin Durant received a special gift at FanaticsFest 2024. WWE legend and current Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque gave Durant a special University of Texas Longhorns WWE championship belt and noted on X that Durant can now literally carry the legacy of his college team wherever he goes.
Kevin Durant played for the University of Texas for just one season, where he had a phenomenal stint. During his single-season stint with the Longhorns, KD averaged 25.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. His performances paid off, as he was unanimously named the national college basketball player of the year.
Off the back of his stint with the Longhorns, Durant entered the 2007 NBA Draft, where he was the second overall pick, going to the Seattle Supersonics. He would win the Rookie of the Year award. In the following two years, Durant would make his first All-Star game and has been a perennial All-Star since.
Durant would have a successful stint with the Thunder, taking them to the NBA Finals just five years after entering the NBA. The franchise had built around their exciting young core of Durant, Westbrook, and James Harden. Seeing three future MVPs playing together so early in their career was very exciting.
But Durant’s stint with the Thunder came to a controversial end, as he would sign with the Golden State Warriors, the team he and the Thunder blew a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Finals just a few months prior. Durant’s move in 2016 ended up changing the entire complexion of the NBA.
KD would reach three NBA Finals three times with the Warriors, winning two NBA championships in 2017 and 2018. After a successful but controversial stint with the Warriors, KD would join the Brooklyn Nets, along with Kyrie Irving. Even a reunion with James Harden couldn’t help the team win an NBA championship.
Kevin Durant Trying To Win Another NBA Championship
Durant is now on the Phoenix Suns, and hoping to win an NBA championship as he closes out his career. The roster has been solid, but the Suns have yet to make it past the second round since Durant’s arrival. And in the 2024 playoffs, the Suns were humiliated by the Timberwolves, who swept them en route to the Western Conference Finals.
KD has shown that he can still play at the highest level, as he led Team USA to the gold medal at the 2024 Olympics with Stephen Curry and LeBron James. KD became the most successful male Olympic player in Team USA history, winning his fourth gold medal at the games.
With Durant expected to return to the Suns next season, he will hope to right the wrongs of the previous season and put in an excellent performance to try and secure the Suns a high seed in the West. But considering how competitive the West has become, the Suns will have a tall task in front of them to secure a high seed.
