Kevin Durant on why some consider LeBron James the greatest player ever

Team USA continues to prepare for what it hopes will be a triumphant run to the gold medal in this year’s Summer Olympics in Paris. It boasts one of its most talented rosters ever, which includes Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Anthony Edwards, Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis.

Of course, this year’s edition of Team USA also includes Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. Even at age 39, James is still playing at an elite level, and he could very well end up winning his third Olympic gold medal within the next few weeks.

One thing that is hard to maintain after many years in the NBA, let alone the 21 seasons James has played so far, is true energy and enthusiasm for the game. But Durant says that the energy and enthusiasm James still has makes him realize why some consider James to be the greatest player in basketball history (h/t Ahn Fire Digital).

Team USA easily won its first exhibition game on Wednesday against Canada. While James largely took it easy, he also contributed to the win and served up several highlight plays.

The squad will have four more exhibition contests before it takes the court on July 28 for its first official game of the Olympics versus Serbia.
